We try not to blow our trumpet too often, but zicoball’s England League 2 predictions, tips and football betting advice hub is the best there is. You will struggle to find a free resource elsewhere that provides this standard of betting predictions, tips, and analysis focused on England League 2 every weekend of the season.
Usually, such pages are computer-generated, spitting out facts and stats which are already factored into pricing. Either that or such tips will be behind a paywall. But we do things a little differently here as staunch EFL advocates. If this page isn’t enough to quench your EFL thirst, why not check out our League 1 Predictions hub?

zicoball predicts the League 2 final standings: The Playoff Picture
Like in the Championship and League 1, The League 2 playoffs are a series of matches determining the fourth and final team to be promoted from League Two to League One each season. The top three sides in League 1 are automatically promoted, leaving the fourth up for grabs.
The playoff structure involves the teams that finish in 4th to 7th place in the regular season. The playoffs consist of two semi-finals and a final. The semi-finals are two-legged, with each team playing home and away. The winners of these matches progress to the final, a single game played at the prestigious Wembley Stadium. The winner of the final earns promotion to League One.
It’s as simple as that. But what’s not simple is picking out the teams that will finish in those playoff spots. So, as we often do here at zicoball, we’ve decided to put our money where our mouth is and showcase exactly how we see the top seven ending up:
Position | Team | Expected Points |
1. | Stockport County | 88 |
2. | Wrexham | 82 |
3. | Mansfield | 80 |
4. | MK Dons | 78 |
5. | Notts County (P) | 72 |
6. | Barrow | 70 |
7. | Crewe | 69 |
The Bookmaker’s Predict A Stockport County Crown: title Favourites
This is Stockport’s second consecutive campaign in League Two. They may have only recently scrapped to claw their way back from Non-League, but with Dave Challinor in the dugout at Edgeley Park and the finances behind him to make a success of his tenure, the team has shown their potential in League Two this season.
Challinor’s side is odds-on to clinch the League 2 crown this term, operating with an impressively high win rate and a goals-scored tally that has consistently kept them as one of the league’s highest scorers. Recent fixtures like the 1-5 in Doncaster, the 8-0 at home against Sutton and 5-0 against title challengers, Wrexham, in September, is the perfect ointment for remaining one of the division’s most potent.
They’ve been active in the transfer market, bringing in key players and making strategic changes to strengthen their squad. Louie Barry, although picking up an injury when he threatened to take the division by storm, was a shrewd pick-up on loan. Both Nick Powell and Ethan Bristow, the latter arriving in January, are players capable of performing at a higher level, too.
Stockport County’s level of performance this season, coupled with the consistency needed at League 2 level, indicates that this could be a campaign to remember in Greater Manchester.
England League 2 Betting Tips
Football betting in League 2 requires a nuanced approach tailored to the unique characteristics of the division. This is far from the Premier League. The usual lines of reporting and information gathering aren’t as accessible - use it to your advantage.
With the above at the forefront of our minds, we’ve readied a selection of League 2 betting tips.
League 2 Betting Tips
- Analyse Team Form: Look at recent performances of the teams, not just win/loss records, but also how they played. Consider factors like home and away performance, goals scored and conceded, and any notable shifts in form. Has a new manager come in? Is the team playing a different brand of football that lends itself to high turnovers and goals? Things like this might not be factored into pricing during the early stages of change, leaving said team undervalued in specific markets by the bookmaker.
- Consider Game State: Teams’ motivations can vary, especially towards the end of the season. Teams fighting for the title, battling relegation, or aiming for a playoff spot will likely perform differently. A side bumbling about in mid-table nearer the end of the season is much less likely to have the same grit and desire as one fighting for its life nearer the business end of the season.
- Be Creative Where Possible: Steer away from the 1X2 markets and explore other markets like over/under goals, both teams to score, Asian Handicaps, correct score, Booking Points, or first goal scorer. These can offer better value.
- Utilise the Data: Leverage stats and databases that provide in-depth analysis of games, player statistics, and historical trends. Be wary; bookmakers have all of this in their armoury, too, so you need to be clever and analyse variables that are not within their reach or that they will factor into pricing at a later date, offering you a window of opportunity.
- Keep Yourself Updated and Ahead of the Bookmakers: Keep up-to-date with the latest news in League 2, such as injuries, suspensions, managerial changes and financial issues within clubs. The general feel within a fanbase is also important, it often reflects team performance and general atmosphere when playing at home.
Understanding League 2 and conducting thorough research will significantly enhance your betting strategies. Honing in on the variables not yet factored into pricing is your golden ticket.
